Obituary of Carmelo Burgio

Carmelo Burgio, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 13th, surrounded by his family at home in Texas. Before moving to Texas, Carmelo and his wife, Theresa, were long time residents of Waldwick, NJ. During his years in Waldwick, he was the owner of Tri County Painters and an active member of the Waldwick Lions Club, eventually being named President, and even started the Leo Club. Carmelo also volunteered a lot of his time at St. Luke’s RC Church in Ho Ho Kus, eventually becoming a Eucharistic Minister. Over the years, he and Theresa loved to travel all over the world, visiting Alaska, Russia, Italy, France, and other beautiful locations in Europe.

 

Carmelo is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Theresa. He will be dearly missed by his children, Theresa (Robert) Posner of The Colony, TX, Donna (Scott) Gabey of Oakland, NJ, and Edward (Victoria) Burgio of Hampton Twp, NJ. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, John Ladolcetta, Dina Ladolcetta, Steve (Rebecca) Higgins, Angela Higgins, Victoria Burgio, Dominick Burgio, and a great grandson, Stevie Higgins.

 

A visitation will be held at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, www.vpfh.com , on Friday, January 18th from 2 to 4pm & 7 to 9pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 19th at 10am at St. Luke’s RC Church with a burial to follow at St. Luke’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmelo’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
