Obituary of Jean Den Bleyker
Jean Therese DenBleyker (née Lane), 91, of Berkeley, NJ, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Jean grew up in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ and lived in Totowa before moving to the Toms River area 24 years ago. She was a private piano teacher and taught music at Passaic Valley High School and Bergen Christian Academy. An accomplished organist, pianist, and composer, Jean held bachelor degrees from Rutgers University and the Juilliard School and a master’s degree from Smith College. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Music Educator’s Council, the Music Educator’s Association, and the American Guild of Organists. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel DenBleyker, her son, Kevin DenBleyker, and her brothers Arthur and Nestor Lane. A beloved mother and grandmother, Jean is survived by her daughter Beth (DenBleyker) Prins of Hawthorne, her daughter-in-law Eileen (Schlindwein) DenBleyker of Howell, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 18, from 7-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 19, at 10 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home. Interment will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson, NJ.
