Obituary of Ronald A Moore, Jr.
It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald A. Moore Jr., 75, announces his passing after a battle with Parkinson’s disease on December 6, 2018. He passed peacefully while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to parents Ronald Sr. and Ruth (nee Morgan) Moore, on March 20, 1943, in Paterson, New Jersey. Ron graduated from Midland Park High School, Class of 1961. He had resided in Prospect Park, NJ before moving to Hawthorne, NJ, Brewster, NY and most recently to Buena, NJ.
He attended Yale University after joining the Air Force in 1964 and acted as both a Voice Intercept Operator and Intelligence Operations Specialist during his service, which took him to San Antonio, TX, Omaha, NE, and Taipei, Taiwan. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and became a warehouse foreman and operations manager for Aetna Chemical in Elmwood Park. He briefly held a position as warehouse manager for Liberty Travel in Ramsey, NJ until his retirement in 2009.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his two children; Ronald Moore III and wife Polly of Brewster, NY, and daughter Beth Ehle and husband Marc of Califon, NJ. He will also be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren, Shannon and Ryan Moore of Stony Point NY and Benjamin and Daniel Ehle of Califon, NJ, his brothers Charles Moore of Landisville, NJ and Robert Moore of North Haledon, NJ, sister Mary of Hazelton, PA and half-sisters Alberta Baker of Lincoln Park, NJ and Charlotte Kilpatrick of Salisbury, MD. He is also survived by his ex-wife of 38 years, Betty Nagelhout of Manahawkin, NJ. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Ronald Sr. in 1965 and Ruth in 2006.
Ron was known for his love of music and of baseball as an avid San Francisco Giants fan. He was known as a kind and gentle man, but yet he was also so strong in many regards. His humor and kindness will continue to inspire those of us who were blessed to know him.
Friends may visit the family on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 2 - 4 and 7 – 9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ, 07481. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 10am. Interment will follow at the Community Cemetery of Monroe, NY-17M, Monroe, NY 10950.
