Obituary of Flora Iommetti

Flora Iommetti, of Franklin Lakes, NJ went peacefully into the arms of her heavenly Father, at the age of 94, on Thursday, December 6, 2018. She was born in Paterson, NJ, daughter of Harry and Clotilde and had 7 siblings.  Flora met her husband Pompeo "Pete" Iommetti and they were married for 47 years before his passing in 1995.

Flora spent her life caring for her home, husband, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a faith-filled woman, who always had a long prayer list of requests and a rosary in her hand. She was a lifelong member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes, NJ. For many years she was a volunteer reading specialist for the first grade at Most Blessed Sacrament School.  She also devoted her time volunteering with the Salesian Sisters at Mary Help of Christians Academy. She participated in the Serra Club, Paterson Division and she was a daily Communicant. 

She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Charles Kohut, her dear grandchildren: Christen Gross (Eric) and Lauren Ackermann (Adam) and five cherished great-grandchildren: Emma, Peter Luke, Grace and Brooke, whom she lived to hear about. Family and Friends are welcome to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.  Flora’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 787 Franklin Lake Rd., Franklin Lakes, NJ, 07417. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson, NJ. Because Flora strongly supported Catholic education, contributions may be made to the Academy of Our Lady, 180 Rodney Street, Glen Rock, NJ, 07452 or to the Mary Help of Christians Academy, 659 Belmont Ave., North Haledon, NJ, 07508.
