Obituary of Philipp T. Reap
Philipp T. Reap, age 83 of Mahwah formerly of Elmwood Park, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 17, 2018. Born in the Bronx, NY, Phil grew up in Jersey City. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Phil was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickenson University. He retired in 2000 as a Program Manager for ITT Avionics in Nutley after 20 years of service. Phil was proud to be a councilman in both Elmwood Park and Oakland and enjoyed the challenges of politics. He was a parishioner of St. Paul’s RC Church in Ramsey. Phil was pre-deceased by his dear wife Bernice in 1994. Surviving is his loving wife of 20 years, Leona, his 3 devoted children, Joseph and his wife Karen, Kevin and his wife Diana and Irene and her husband Mark Kramer. Phil also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Stephanie, Ali, Shaun, Matt, Mark Jr., and Audrey and his brother Thomas and sister Ellen Brown. He is also survived by his step-children, Frank Cariddi and his wife Karen and Mark Cariddi and his wife Kathleen, his step-grandchildren, Anthony, Jason, Brian and Alexis and 5 great grandchildren. The Reap family will receive friends on Monday 2:00 until 4:00 and 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s RC Church, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Philipp’s name may be made to the Elmwood Park P.B.A. Local 185, P.O. Box 33, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407.
