Obituary of Maria S. Egli

Maria S. Braun Egli passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the age of 95. Born in Oberzwehren, Germany, she immigrated with her parents to the U.S. in 1925 and eventually settled in Franklin Lakes, NJ in 1939.  Maria and her husband Thomas established Thomas G. Braun Real Estate and Insurance in Franklin Lakes.  She was a founding member of Grace Community Church in Franklin Lakes.  She had a passionate interest in genealogy and history.  In 1965, she authored the book, "Franklin Lakes: Its History and Heritage." Maria is predeceased by her first husband Thomas Braun and her second husband George Egli.  She is survived by her five children: Elizabeth Lane (Whitney Lane), John Braun, M.D. (Ann Reed, M.D.), David Braun, Deborah Hanson (Geoffery Hanson) and Katharine Braun, her three grandchildren: Elisse Geberth (Kevin Geberth), Rachel Heisey and Danielle Hanson; two great grandchildren: Nathaniel Geberth and Isaiah de la Espriella and three step-children: Suzanne Egli Hanna,(Jack); David Egli, (Cynthia) and John "Jack" Egli. Visitation will be held on Nov. 16, 2018 from 10 -11AM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah. Contributions in Maria’s memory may be made to the Grace Community Church, 886 Franklin Ave. Franklin Lakes, NJ.
