Obituary of Michael C. Coppola

Michael C. Coppola passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the age of 87. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was a longtime resident of Oakland and Mahwah. Michael graduated the Citadel in 1954 and proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. Before retiring, he was the Vice President of Sales at Alkahn Labels Inc., in New York City. He was an avid golfer, skier and a former boxer and gymnast. Michael is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Joan E. Coppola, who passed away in 2017. He is survived by his two cherished daughters: Laura Mortara and Stephanie Benfante; four beloved granddaughters: Allison, her husband Joseph, Nicole, Katie and Sara. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.  at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. The Interment will follow at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah.
