I have had the privilege of working with Joanne for close to 20 years.
Her resilience and good humor would see Joanne through more pain and tragedy than most of us will know. I was lucky enough to meet Carl and her father, they were such a huge part of who she was. I know not a day went by when Carl and her father were not on her mind.
It would have been easy for Joanne to let herself become bitter and hardened; to give up; But that was not Joanne.
It was an honor to have worked with such an amazing, strong woman, who cared about her team members. It’s very possible Joanne knew more about my family then I do.
Joanne taught us the importance of working together as a team, not by talking about it but by demonstration.
She was like the mother of our group. Her generosity with her time and wiliness to always lend a helping hand, were the fabric of our success as a team.
I don’t know how she did it, day after day, crisis after crisis. She was selfless.
I’d like to share my favorite Joanne story….Costa Rica July 2007… Departure day.. Joanne’s smile beamed..
When you say you are in Costa Rica on a business trip..
People image a corporate boondoggle. beaches, dinner parties, who knows what… that was not this trip.
Picture this, 6 people huddled over an ink jet printer for hours on end. Stuck in the hotel business center. It seemed like there was no air conditioning in that god forsaken place. Night after night, printing training material, grading exams and trying to catch up on everything personal and professional all at the same time. Let’s say nerves were a little fried.
So Joanne’s smile on departure day was more than warranted. She was throwing around Colones around like mad woman, the maid, hotel reception, the taxis driver all got big tips that day.
I thought she might bust into the cockpit to tip the pilot on the flight home.
In all fairness she was just truly happy to be headed home to her beloved puppies and husband.
Joanne was like an older sister to me, always there with sage advice and a sounding board I miss Joanne every day

Joanne was a kind and caring friend. She was a friend to me in high school when I really had no other friends. I remember her home with a lovely white piano that she played. I appreciated her friendship always.

Joanne, I will miss you very much. I will always remember your words of encouragement. You were not only my dear friend but a mentor as well. Thank you for always being concerned for my family. I will always remember our talks about our crazy dogs. I will always cherish the advice you have given me over the years. The world is a little less bright without you in it.

I was so heartbroken to hear about this news. Joanne was such a kind warm person who always had a positive attitude and held you accountable for your actions whether at work or in life. She always had kind words for me and was such a wonderful co-worker and mentor to me at work. She embraced me from the day that I met her and vice versa. We used to always have wonderful conversations about the show Smallville...that was our must see TV show! I'll never forget you Joanne.....R.I.P.
