Obituary of Daniel Gregory Gubb
Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for your tremendous outpouring of love and support.
Love, The Gubb Family
DANIEL GREGORY GUBB 8/3/1993 - 9/21/2018
Upon entering, Daniel lit up a room and could humblingly command its occupants. He was rarely forgotten and most often remembered years after a meeting for his humor, wisdom, genuine warmth and engaging charm.
He was a fiercely loyal family member and friend. If you were among his chosen, he was yours for life and there was no step he wouldn't take in your support or protection.
We're sure our other children wouldn't mind us saying...Daniel was our most brilliant child. He could recall stats and plays from a 1950's baseball game yet his true skills were most keenly displayed in his sixth sense of people and all situations. His targeted and concise evaluations were so "on point", we very rarely doubted his assessments or instincts.
Daniel identified and championed the underdog. He could never just stand by to watch the weak get bullied or the meek get left out or the downtrodden feel hopeless. Exhaustive efforts would be made to fix a wrong or lift a soul. We were immensely proud of this attribute.
His curiosity on all topics was boundless, he questioned many topics the rest of us believed to be "fact" and his thought pattern had no predisposed limitations. Qualities some believed reserved for those destined for greatness. We just admired and enjoyed how he opened up our world.
Family was Daniel's passion. Nothing had more importance, gave him more inspiration or held more interest than family...except maybe a Duke basketball game. He was a devoted son, sibling, grandson, cousin, and nephew. His siblings were his best friends. David was his hero and Corrine and Olivia were his "Angels".
To those Moms and Dads: We all know that cherished moment when we bring a new life into the world. We have a vision of how all will progress, how you will nurture, what you will teach, and the memories you will share in the journey ahead. There are just no words to describe this deep cavernous hole and crushed dreams of what could have been.
We are, simply put, heartbroken and devastated.
As our family and friends gather we have already begun to quote the Danielisms, recount his stories and lessons taught, repeat his expressions with appropriate inflection and wonder what he would have thought on a particular topic. No doubt, these will visit us many times over in the years to come.
Our sincerest gratitude to all those that have reached out in so many loving ways and to those who have remained in the background quietly saying prayers on our behalf.
Love to all,
Chris, David, David Jr, Daniel, Corrine and Olivia
We have no answers my sweet son as to why but one thing is certain, you left your "mark" in this world and on the loved ones you left behind.
