Obituary of Rachel Adriana Smith

SMITH – Rachel Adriana Wisse Smith, age 102, died peacefully on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Holland Christian Home in North Haledon. Rachel was born in Clifton, NJ on March 1, 1916.  She is pre-deceased by her husband, Peter E. on March 9, 2006; her beloved daughter, Joanne L. on March 26, 2010 and grandson, Trevor D. on March 13, 1997. Rachel graduated from the Christian San. School of Nursing and was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She moved to Wyckoff after marriage and remained there until moving to the Holland Home in 2004. Surviving is her daughter, Elaine C. Hoekstra of Grand Rapids MI, her son-in-law, David J. Van Lenten, and her sister, Alice S. Wisse of Orland Park, IL. Rachel leaves four grandchildren, Jeffrey Hoekstra and wife Anne, Scott Hoekstra, Carin Brastow and husband, Charles, Michael Van Lenten and wife Susan and great grandchildren, Scott, Sean, Ian, Nathaniel, Tyler, Kayla, Erin and Brooke. Private family services will be held at the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
