Obituary of Carmine Scavone
Carmine D. Scavone, 89, of Monroe Township, NJ, died on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Waldwick, NJ for 25 years before relocating to Monroe Township, NJ. He moved to New Providence, NJ one year ago.
Carmine graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. He spent half of his career as a chemist researching for United Fruit Company in New York followed by a career as a member of the New York Stock Exchange for over 25 years.
He is survived by his children, Robert Scavone of Hoboken, NJ, Judy Slotkin and her husband Todd of Darien, CT and Daniel Scavone and his wife Cecelia of Belle Meade, NJ, and his nine grandchildren: Kelly, Matthew, Christopher, Susan, William, Alexandra, Thomas, Peter and Nicole.
Carmine was predeceased by his loving wife, Jacqueline, in 2017 and his brothers, Robert and Daniel.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10:00am at the St. Luke’s Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. Burial will follow at the St. Luke’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmine’s memory can be made to any local Police Benevolent Association (PBA) chapter.
