Obituary of Alessandro Scotti
Scotti, Alessandro, age 92 of Midland Park died peacefully in his home on July 20, 2018. Born in the Bronx, NY he lived in Midland Park for 55 years. Alex was a parishioner at the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Catherine Devitt Scotti. Surviving are his children Camille R. Algren and her husband Anthony Algren of Midland Park, Marisa A. Scotti and her wife Beth McNemar of Bridgeport CT, Frank P. Scotti and his wife Karin Scotti of Ho-Ho-Kus, Gabriella M. Scotti of Glen Mills, PA, and Claudia P. Scotti and her husband John Chayko of Flemington. Also surviving are his six grandchildren, Kimberly A. Olive, Matthew A. Scotti, Andrew R. Scotti, Alexander R. Chayko, Joshua M. Chayko, and Mila Catherine Cutler-Scotti. Alessandro was a veteran of World War II, serving proudly in the United States Navy. After graduating from Pace College with his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, he worked as an accountant and officer for various publishing companies, most notably with W.W. Norton and Co. in New York, NY. Alex spent several seasons coaching softball in town and was a trustee of the Midland Park Library Board for many years. His passion for the opera, the arts, the NY Yankees, the NY Giants, food and most of all his family and friends was known by all. Visitation is Monday July 23 from 5-8pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ, with a funeral mass on Tuesday July 24 at 10am at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Ave., Midland Park, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Midland Park Public Library and the Midland Park Ambulance Corps.
