Please accept my deepest condolences. The following words have helped many to cope with the loss of someone special and dear. 1 Corinthians 1:3, 4 states "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us, in all our trial..."
Without a doubt, Jehovah God will help your family and friends in such a difficult time. In 1 Corinthians 15:26 he promises us that "the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing." I hope the family and friends can find some measure of comfort in his promise.

Bernie, we will miss you. It was our privilege to know and love you. Knowing you through the Cornerstone Community Church family, we saw a man with a quick wit, an honest voice and a huge heart for God and family and friends. Your presence and generosity on so many levels was steadfast and sure. Heaven is richer today; and although we didn't really want to let you go, our lives are richer because you're part of our story. Dear Kathy,
Your Dad was special to us and I will always remember him. I’m glad we were friends all these years and so glad we took time to pray together. He so loved you and the kids. So proud of them and you. Such a good man of God who is now with Jesus and the mansion prepared for Mom and Dad. Love you and keep in touch. Janet

Hank and I were friends of Bernie and Helen and used to go to diner after Sunday evening service. We moved to NC in 1989 but still kept in touch. When we went back to NJ we would often go out to dinner with them. I have his number on my phone as he would call once in awhile or I occasionally called him. I hadn’t heard from him for a long time and knew his health was failing.
Jeff and Kathy - know you now miss your parents but hopefully be united with them in glory.

Dear Kathy & Allen, Jeff, Jessica & Justen,
Janet & I have been truly Blessed over the years by having known Bernie & Helen. We recall his generosity in inviting us to the Opera in NYC many moons ago and only a few years after getting to know him at WBC.
Honestly - I am not the opera type and was actually surprised at his invitation, but graciously tagged along for the ride, and enjoyed getting to know him!
Bernie's wit is one of a kind - cryptic at times but always in a disarming manner and funny!! Deep down, Bernie is a very caring person, as we got to know the real Bernie since meeting at Gordon & Peg Stanley's home for our Men's Bible Study. His Thursday evening outreach at the local Starbuck's touched many lives, often interacting with folks who would not usually be seen in our hallways on Sundays.
I got to know the gentle side of Bernie during my visits with him at the Longview Residence. He was indeed the Beloved Mayor of Longview and almost everyone there knows him as "Bernie Baby" (:)
In the end - he was looking forward to be with Jesus, His Savior!!!
Thank you for sharing him with us, and May God be your comfort and strength as you mourn the loss of a loving Father & Grandpa.
Astor & Janet Chin-Lyn
