Obituary of John J. Salamone

Salamone, John J., age 92, of Waldwick, passed away on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018.  John was born in Hoboken and was a resident of Waldwick for over 60 years.  John proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Medical Corpsman.  After his service, he started working for Chemical Bank in NYC and retired as Vice President of Operations after working there for over 40 years.  John was a parishioner of St. Luke’s R.C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, where he was a member of the Senior Lucans.  John is survived by his son, Robert Salamone and his wife, Meg of New Egypt, NJ and two daughters, Maureen Hirsch and Mary Ann Osgoodby both of Waldwick, NJ. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; John Salamone, Brian Salamone, Robert Hirsch, Maryann White, Kimberly Tinker, Thomas Osgoodby and Gregory Osgoodby and eleven great grandchildren; Olivea, Dylan and Logan Salamone, Sophia and Bronson Tinker, Grace White, Angela, Nicholas and Luke Salamone, and Harper and Ava Osgoodby.  John was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, in 2016 and two sons in law, Robert Hirsch in 2011 and George Osgoodby in 2015. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 27th, 2018, 10:30 AM at St. Luke’s R.C. Church, 340 Franklin Tpke., Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ 07423 with the interment to follow in the St. Luke’s Cemetery.
