Obituary of Thomas F. Krauter

Thomas F. Krauter, 91, of Allendale died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, June 15, 2018. Born in New York, NY, Tom lived in Allendale for the last 55 years. He was a Financial Executive at ITT in New York City for 33 years before his retirement in 1992. He graduated cum laude from Manhattan College in 1951.

He was a parishioner of Guardian Angel R.C. Church in Allendale where he served as an usher and as a member of the Holy Name Society and the Parish Council. Tom served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Navy Pacific Fleet aboard the USS Albemarle.

Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Martha (nee Wernicki), and his three devoted daughters, Kathleen and her husband Michael Ryan, Nancy and her husband Arthur Bell and Jeannie and her husband Stephen Ryan. Tom also leaves his four adoring granddaughters, Julia, Kristen, Caroline and Ellie. He is predeceased in death by his mother Mary Krauter (nee Sherlock), father Francis Krauter, stepmother Irene Krauter (nee Hoy) and brother William Krauter.

The Krauter family will receive friends on Monday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home at 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral mass will be Tuesday 10:00 AM at the Guardian Angel R.C. Church, 320 Franklin Tpk., Allendale. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant House, 460 W. 41st St., New York, NY, and Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Rd., Bronx, NY.
