Obituary of John R. Margroff
Margroff, John R., age 79 of Wyckoff, died Friday, June 8, 2018. Born in Waldwick, John had been a resident of Wyckoff for the past 75 years. He was a 1957 Graduate of Ramsey High School and completed several management courses through Cornell University and Bergen Community College. John served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. His 58 year career as a Vending Broker and in Product Development in the food industry spanned from A & P Supermarkets to Grand Union to Stop and Shop culminating with EMS Advantage in Montvale, NJ. A very civic minded individual, John was involved in a variety of organizations including: Franklin Lakes Lions Club, Wyckoff Hi-Lites where he chaired and was responsible for the construction of the lights on the Wyckoff Memorial Field Complex, Wyckoff Masonic Lodge No. 287 F&AM, where he served as a Grand Chaplain in 2004 and as District Deputy Grand Master of the second District 2007 - 2010 and various bodies within the Masonic Fraternity. The Lebanon Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons, Alexandria Council no. 478 A.M.D. Melitta Commandry of the Knights Templar, Salaam Shrine and Warren Point Square Club. He was a charter member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Wyckoff in 1964, and remained an active member to present. Surviving are his devoted children, Jeanette and her husband Joseph Pakosinski, J. Eugene and his companion Mary Kloby, Darry and his wife Suzie, and Laraine Margroff and her husband Paul Voigtlander. John also leaves his ten adoring grandchildren, Christopher, Jacqueline, Danielle, Ryan, Lexi, Madi, Joey (Margroff), Emilee, John and Olivia (Pakosinski) and his long time companion Donna Persh and her family. John was pre-deceased by his wife Patricia Ann (Morel) in 1996. The Margroff family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13, 4:00 until 8:00 PM with a Masonic Service at 7:30pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14 at 10:30 AM from the Grace United Methodist Church, 555 Russell Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will follow in the Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers: memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Dyslexia Centers, c/o Masonic Charity Foundation,, 902 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, NJ, 08016; or the Shriners Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St. Phil., Pa. 19140.
