Obituary of Vincent M O'Reilly
Vincent M. O’Reilly, age 70, died on June 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rockaway Beach, Queens, grew up in Howard Beach, NY and spent his adult life in Newburgh, Suffern and Oakland, NJ. After a successful career as an Executive in Human Resources for ITT Corporation, Vince retired to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Vince graduated from Archbishop Malloy High School, Queens, NY and attended Marist College, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and further served our country in the Army Reserve. He is predeceased by his parents, Vincent M. and Frances E. O’Reilly and his sister and brother-in-law, Maureen and Barry Stringer. Vincent is survived by his loving brothers, James L. O’Reilly and his wife, Teresa of Howard Beach, NY and Robert J. O’Reilly and his wife, Shirley of Franklin Lakes, NJ. Also surviving are his nine nieces and nephews, three great nephews and one great niece. The family will receive friends on June 4th, 2018 from 4:00-9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Funeral Mass will be held on June 5, 2018 at 10:00 am at Most Blessed Sacrament RC Church, 787 Franklin Lakes Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. A private cremation will be held following the Funeral Mass. Vince enjoyed traveling abroad and independently mastered the art of speaking multiple foreign languages. He had a lifelong appreciation and interest in Asian art. Right up to the end Vin marched to the beat of his own drum. He lived life true to which he truly was, he did not waiver in the face of mediocrity and conformity. He leaves a legacy of laughter for all that knew him. Vince, with his unconventional sense of humor was the life of the party; he was also the master of the Irish goodbye.
