Obituary of Gerald W. Van Brunt
Gerald W. Van Brunt, age 87 of Midland Park died Sunday, March 11, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY he lived in Midland Park for 54 years. He was a combat Army veteran who served during the Korean War, honorably discharged as a corporal. Jerry requests that you thank a veteran for their service to our country in his memory. Jerry was a Truck Driver for Wonder Bread Company, Paterson, he served as a special police officer in Midland Park and retired as bank courier for Boiling Springs Bank. He was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity, Midland Park and a member of the Korean War Veterans Group, MASH 4099, River Vale, NJ. Surviving are his three children, Michael Van Brunt and his wife Debra of West Milford, NJ, Margaret (Peggy) Baruffaldi of Warwick, NY and Patricia Ullrich and her husband John of Ridgewood, NJ.
Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, Daniel Baruffaldi (Kelly), Erin Norton (Jon), Christine Lopes (Nick), Caitlin Smith (Michael), Jacqueline Baruffaldi, Michael Van Brunt Jr. and Meredith Ullrich. He was the proud great grandfather, affectionately known as the “Old Man” to seven great grandchildren and brother of Marie Marriott of Michigan. He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Jane (nee Dobson) Van Brunt in 2005 and his two sisters, Marjorie Davis and Virginia Benzing. Visiting, Tuesday 3-7 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, at 11:30 am at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
