Obituary of Robert P. Amerio

Robert Peter Amerio died peacefully in his home on January 26, 2018 at the age of 86.  He was surrounded by his wife Judy, his children and grandchildren.  Robert “Bob” was born to Ethel and Louis Amerio in Bronx, NY on April 8, 1931.  Bob grew up in Wood-Ridge, NJ and graduated from Wood-Ridge High School (where he was inducted into their inaugural Hall of Fame class for football, basketball and baseball).  He went on to graduate from Johns Hopkins University in three years.    Bob was drafted into the Army in 1953 and served at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. Bob’s patience was rewarded in 1962 when he was blessed to meet Judith Montgomery at the Jersey Shore.  Married on November 17, 1963, they shared 54 wonderful years together.   Bob and Judy have three children, Susan Fallon (husband, Chuck), Steven (wife, Jennifer) and Kevin (wife, Evelyn) and nine grandchildren, Emily, Rebecca, Carson, Francesca, Simone, Josephine, Luciana, James and Peter.   Bob and Judy moved to Wyckoff in 1965 and have resided there since.  Bob spent his professional life working in procurement for various companies in the area.  His true passion was very simple: spending time with Judy and their family and friends, especially when it involved vacationing in Surf City and a gin & tonic.  Bob was a NY Giant season ticket holder since 1957 and enjoyed tailgating with family and friends.  Bob was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth RC Church for over 50 years and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 29^th from 4 to 8 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.  A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 30^th at 11 am at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
