Obituary of Frederick J. Tudico, Jr.
Frederick “Freddy” Tudico, Jr passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan 21 in Florida. Born to Fred Sr and Marie (nee Selesky) Tudico on July 1 1940. He lived in West Haverstraw, NY where he was known for his athleticism and his handsome good looks! He attended school with and married Joan (nee Sagala) on July 14, 1962 who he always referred to as “Hon”.
Fred spent a number of years in the advertising and marketing business, which was a natural field with his easy demeanor with people and creative instincts. In the 80s, he turned to the financial world and became a stockbroker on Wall Street, eventually retiring as Vice President at Smith Barney in 2007.
Fred has two true loves in his life. His family first and then the NY Yankees. He spent many springs and summers listening to or watching his beloved team. He was an avid collector of all things baseball. His greatest joy in his retirement years was attending collectors shows and getting to meet many of “the greats”. When he wasn’t at a show, you could find Fred playing billiards with his buddies. He was an excellent player and helped bring his team some wins.
Most people though will remember Fred for his always smiling face, positive attitude and general love of life. He made friends wherever he went and it was not uncommon for him to walk into many local stores to a shout of “Hey Fred!” He was thoughtful and kind and always had positive words for any situation.
Fred was a true family man. He loved being with his three “girls” and every day of his life his focus was on taking care of and providing for his family. He was a very proud grandfather to his three grandchildren who were the total joy of his life.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, and his daughters Lori Gillen (Michael) and Debi Price. His beloved sister Chi-Chi (Marie) Maher (Larry) and his grandchildren Tara Price, and Nicholas and Joseph Gillen. He leaves many other family and friends who no doubt will feel the void of his loss.
Services will be held at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, Wyckoff NJ on Sunday, January 28th from 2:00 – 6:00 pm and church services on Monday, January 29th at Church of the Presentation at 11:00 am.
