Obituary of Alfred J Salerno, Jr.
Alfred J. Salerno, Jr., 86, of Waldwick, died on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Born in New York City, Al lived in Spring Valley, NY for 38 years before moving to Waldwick 12 years ago. He joined the US Air Force and served as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War. He was an Electrician with IBEW Local #3 for over 65 years.
Al is survived by his loving wife Antonia of 58 years, his children: Lisa Salerno of Croton-on-Hudson, Lawrence Salerno and his wife Alicia of Ramsey, and his four grandchildren: Marissa, Krystina, John and Joseph. He is also survived by his sister Rosalie and many nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his brother Anthony and his sister Teresa.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 23, 4 - 8 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 on Wednesday, January 24 at St. Luke’s Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. Entombment will follow at the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.
