Obituary of Albert Kopeinig

Albert Kopeinig, age 93, died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Hackensack UMC, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Bronx, NY and had been a resident of Paramus before moving to Wyckoff in 1960.  Prior to his retirement in 1993, he had attained the position of Senior Engineer with Con Edison in New York, NY. Albert chose to put his education on hold to serve his country as a US Marine during World War II where he received a purple heart as well as other medals fighting in the Pacific Theater.  Following the conclusion of the war, Albert earned his bachelor’s degree at City College of New York, graduating in three years with honors.  His determination and dedication earned him a lifetime membership into Phi Beta Kappa. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 6467, Bergenfield, NJ and the Disabled American Veterans. In 2006, Albert was chosen as the Grand Marshall of the Wyckoff Memorial Day Parade. Albert is survived by the love of his life of 69 years, Antonia Kopeinig and his devoted daughter, Linda Amerman and her husband, Arthur, all of Wyckoff.  Left to carry on his legacy are three grandchildren: Bert, Dave, and Chip Amerman and three great grandchildren: Davey and Kopen and Hannah Grace Amerman (whose arrival is expected any day). A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, 2:00 PM at Garden of Memories Mausoleum, 300 Soldier Hill Road, Washington Township, NJ 07676 (everyone is asked to assemble at the chapel of the cemetery mausoleum).  Arrangements by the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.  As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Albert’s memory may be made to DAV - Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
