Obituary of John G Komsa

John G. Komsa, age 85 of Waldwick died Friday, January 5, 2018.   He was born and raised in Garfield before proudly serving in the United States Navy.  He achieved the rank of First Class Petty Officer within the first year of service. John was a resident of Waldwick for the past 56 years.  In his early career as a mechanical engineer, John was a part of the Sky Lab Team at Bendix Corp. in Teterboro. He retired from Becton Dickinson in Franklin Lakes where he worked for more than 25 years.  He was a devout parishioner of St. Luke’s RC Church, Ho Ho Kus, where he served as an usher for more then 25 years, a member and past president of the Senior Lucans Group and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. John was also a member of the Waldwick Planning Board for many years. Surviving are his three children, Andrea Sala (Paul), Karen Fracassini  (Philip), and Jeffrey Komsa (Christiane).  Also surviving is his daughter-in-law, Cindy Komsa and his 11 grandchildren, Kyle, Christopher, Cory and Katelyn Sala, Anna and Katharine Komsa, Cameron, Julia and Cedric Komsa, Nicole and Trey Fracassini.  He was predeceased by the love of his life Pearl, his wife of 61 years who died in 2014, and his eldest son Bob in 2015.  The Komsa family will receive friends on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff.  Funeral Mass will be held Thursday 11 am at St. Luke’s RC Church, 340 Franklin Tpk. Ho Ho Kus.  In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waldwick PBA #217, 15 East Prospect Street, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
