Obituary of Viola Murphy

Murphy, Viola “Lola” (nee Kubey) age 93 of Wyckoff formerly of Glen Rock, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Born in Paterson and raised in East Orange, Lola lived in Saddle Brook and Glen Rock before moving to Wyckoff in 2013. In her early career Lola worked at Bendix Corp where she met the love of her life, John C. “Jack” Murphy. They were married in 1949 and lived a storybook life together. In her later career Lola worked as a receptionist at the Fairlawn Racquet Club where she enjoyed conversation and laughs with the clients and pros alike. She volunteered for many years serving Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed water coloring, reading, cross words, tennis, long walks and caring for her cat Casey. Surviving is her devoted and loving daughter Nancy, who cherished her, along with her husband Dave Kunis. Lola was also very much loved by her grandchildren, Keri and her husband Brendan King, Eric Agnello and his fiance’ Angela Denton, and Craig Agnello and his fiance’ Judi Sadon. She also leaves her adoring great grandson, Ash, and many nieces and a nephew. Also surviving are her step-grandsons, Austin and Mike Kunis and step-great grandson, Sterling. Lola touched so many lives and was loved so much by everyone she met. The Murphy family will receive friends on Thursday 3:00 until 7:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral services will be held Friday 12 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
