Just found out belatedly of the passing of my friend, Casey. I am absolutely crushed and now left to wonder exactly what happened. Dammit, dude, we'd been talking about catching up, grabbing some beers, and working some new BJJ techniques for months, but it's not to be. My deepest condolences to your family, friends, and countless students who were lucky enough to have you be a part of their lives. Rest easy, buddy, you were one of the good ones and I'll truly miss you.

Dear Judy, family and loved ones. Words always fall too short when trying to give condolences. One cannot even begin to know what it's like to lose Your child unless you have lost yours. But holding the memories, the laughter as well as tears, will surround your heart forever. Telling stories that will warm your heart and help heal the pain. Remembering always, that Casey will be with you. Our thoughts and prayers, as we are sending our love to you all.

Casey will be missed by so many who may never be able to tell you the things he did for them, because he never told them of those things. We only know of the many times he was watching out for our daughter, because she realized it and told us. He was one of our son Danny’s friends, but he always stood out...As a child, he always made us laugh. As an adult, he always made our hearts smile. We would see Casey at Danny’s shows, and he always took the time to speak to us, at length, when he could have been enjoying his friends...his passion for his life’s work was contagious, and at such an early age, he affected so many, that I can’t help but think he did all of what God put him here to do. Casey will be missed by so many, but the benefit of his work will be here much longer than many of us will.

Casey,
You always strive to do your best and be the best at whatever you decided to do. I remember you always having a warm smile and a kind word and gesture for others.
I will always remeber you my friend in the following ways.
You would always show leadership by the desire and unselfless want to motivate others.
You always would do things by your own terms which were always the morally correct ones.
You never asked if other what you yourself could not do.
You were a pleasure to be with always, and a true friend. I will miss you dearly. A new Star will be shining bright tonight watching over us all and I will look up and know you are there. Rest well my friend.
Sincerely,
Don

Casey, this is crazy! You were far too young and alive to have passed away.
I didn't know you very long, but from the moment I met you, I was impressed not just with your awesome jiu jitsu (which WAS absolutely, totally awesome), but your laid-back manner, your sneaky sense of humor, and just how down-to-earth you were. I kept meaning to come back and train with you, and now I greatly regret the missed opportunity.
Dude, thank you so much for the great instruction and all the laughs, too. I wish I had known you longer. You'll be missed by more people than you would have thought possible.

Dear Mr. Casey
Thank you for teaching me the past 4 years how to make me be strong and defend myself. You always made me feel special and strong, especially when you gave me my nickname, “Big T”. I always laughed and felt special inside when you called me that. You also knew my favorite super hero at the time was Batman and we both dressed up as Batman together at your Halloween party. I can’t believe my Mr. Casey is gone from this earth and i will pray for you everyday. I will never forget you.

Dear Mr. Casey,
Thank you so much for all that you have taught me over the five years I studied with you. You taught me that I had to earn everything that I obtained from my favorite pair of nunchucks to finally my black belt. I will never forget everything you have done for me since I was five years old, like surprising me at my 6th birthday party! You have taught me many lessons that I have not forgotten and will NEVER forget—One of them was, “You never start the fight, but you always finish it”. Thank you for being a special soul who touched my life and my family’s. You will never be forgotten.
Your Student,
Michael Esposito Jr.
