Obituary of Marjorie J. Brown
Marjorie J. Brown (nee Johnston) age 85 of Pompton Plains died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at her residence. Born in Nyack, NY she lived in Allendale before moving to Williamsburg, VA in 1991 and then to Cedar Crest Village, Pompton Plains in 2005. Marjorie was a registered nurse for the Allendale Board of Education for 35 years before her retirement in 1990. She was a former member of Wellspring United Methodist Church, Williamsburg, VA and Volunteered at Williamsburg Hospital, Williamsburg, VA. Member and former past matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 39 of Ridgewood and member of Order of Eastern Star, Pocahontas Chapter # 103, Williamsburg, VA, and a member of the Red Hats, Williamsburg, VA and Cedar Crest Village, Pompton Plains, NJ. She was also a member of the National Education Association and a retired member of the NJ Education Association, Bergen County Education Association, and the Allendale Education Association and a member of Mt. Sinai Alumni Association and Association of Blauvelt Decedents. Surviving are her children, Sheryl L. Ahearn and her husband Michael of Ridgewood and Stephen Brown Sr. and his wife Susan of Allendale. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Sean Ahearn, Stephen Brown Jr, Sabrina Brown and Sasha Brown. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold D. Brown Jr. in 2014. Visiting Monday, December 4, from 3:30 – 6:30 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. An Eastern Star service will be held at 6:30 pm, followed by a brief prayer service at 7 pm. Private Cremation will be held. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc., 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436 or St. Jude Tribute Program, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN would be appreciated.
