Obituary of Joseph T. Golden
Golden, Joseph T., age 94 of Wyckoff, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 5, 2017. Born and raised in Carbondale, PA, Joseph has lived in Wyckoff for the past 53 years. He served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Military Medic during World War II with the 78th Division in the European Theater at the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Remagen Bridge. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, Combat Medic Badge, Presidential Unit Citation for Duty, European Theater Award, Army Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After the war he graduated from Fordham University. He went on to work for Continental Can Company in Paterson where he retired as Sales Manager in 1987.Joseph was a member of the Hobbyists Unlimited and an active member of St. Elizabeth’s RC Church in Wyckoff. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Diane (nee Buschen), his devoted children, Edward (Carol), Robert, Mary Day (Thomas), Diane Kanis, Joseph ( Richard Santiago), Karen Hoban (William) and Thomas (Colleen). He also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Andrea, Alyssa, Joseph, Edward, Emma, Matthew, Tyler, Christopher, Jenny, Daniel, Robert, Connor, Stephen, David, Mary, Richard and John and his great grandchildren, Temoatzin, Yaretzi, Hyadi, Asa and Wesley. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends, especially the Burkes, the Sweatts, the Spences and the Goldens. A special thank you to Lynell Lampley for her extraordinary and loving care. The Golden family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. A mass of the resurrection will be said at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, followed by the interment in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, The Bronx, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to The Veterans Memorial Home, 1 Veterans Drive, Paramus, NJ 07652. “SAFE JOURNEY DAD”.
