Obituary of James Collins

Collins, James E. Jr. age 84 of Waldwick died Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, NY lived in Staten Island, he married and lived on Long Island before moving to New Jersey in 2006. Before his retirement he was a Teacher with the Commack School District, Commack, LI for 32 years. Member of the NYSYTRS. He was a WW II Marine veteran. He was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity, Midland Park, NJ and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Ridgewood, NJ. Jim was a former parishioner of St. Martin of Tours, Bethpage, LI where he was involved in the Rosary Society, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, 4th Degree Knight, Legion of Mary, Knight of Fatima, Pro Life Champion and Lay Franciscan. Surviving are his children, Peter Collins of Hawthorne, James C. and his wife Pat Collins of Yorktown Heights, NY, Catherine V. Donohoe and her husband Al of Fresh Meadow, NY and Anne Marie Stix and her husband George of Waldwick. Also surviving are his 8 grandchildren, Kelly, Emily, Catherine Ellen, Mary Grace, James, George, Sean and Grace. His brother, Arthur Collins of Long Island and sister, Rita Polanski of TN. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine (nee Gillespie) Collins in 2003 and his brother Kenneth in 2007. Visiting Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass, Friday 10 AM at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St. Midland Park, NJ. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. In Lieu of flowers donations to The Bridge to Life, Inc. Crisis Pregnancy Center, 147-32 Sanford Ave. Flushing, NY 11355 would be appreciated.
