Obituary of Mabel Accettura

Mabel Accettura, 92 of Wyckoff, NJ, passed away on September 5, 2017. She was born in London, England in 1925, coming to the United States in 1946 to marry her husband, Guy , whom she met the day after D-Day and to whom she was happily married for 45 years. She lived in the Chicago area and in Columbus, Ohio before moving to Wyckoff 53 years ago. She was a loving mother/grandmother, homemaker, and longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s R.C. Church in Wyckoff.  She is survived by her children, Raymond Accettura of Wyckoff, Paul Accettura of Milledgeville, GA, and his wife, Karen Berman, Carl Accettura of Morristown and his wife, Mary Sanderson, and Linda Townsend of Lawrenceville, NJ, and her husband James, and her son-in-law Richard Snyder of Chester, NH. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren James Accettura of Salt Lake City, UT, Joseph Accettura of Tokyo, Japan, Jared Accettura of New York City, Margot Accettura of Rochester, NY, Christopher Snyder of Newburyport, MA, Suzanne Snyder of Cambridge, MA, Jacqueline Snyder of Boston, MA ,and Grace Townsend and Kelly Townsend, both of Lawrenceville, NJ.  She is predeceased by her husband, Guy and her daughter, Janet Accettura Snyder. In addition to loving her husband, children & grandchildren, she also loved gardening, playing tennis and the piano, plus Jeopardy and Jumble.  The family will receive friends on Friday September 8, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.
