Obituary of Richard G. Nally
Richard G. Nally, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the age of 88. He was born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and was a resident of Hillsdale and Park Ridge before moving to Mahwah.
He enjoyed being a successful entrepreneur in Manhattan, owning his own business, 7 Graphic Arts, before retiring in 1992.
Richard proudly served his country, serving in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was an avid golfer where he and his wife, Ann M., were long time members of the Ridgewood Country Club. Richard and his wife were also former long time members of the Brookside Racquet and Swim Club, Allendale. Richard was a tremendous athlete, excelling at tennis, golf, skiing and scuba diving.
Richard was predeceased by his wife, Ann M. Nally whom he was married to for 61 years, on July 11, 2017. Richard is survived by his loving daughters: Patricia A. “Patty” Schein and her husband Steve, Elizabeth A. “Liz” Thompson and her husband Allen; five grandchildren: Casey, Maggie, Ted, Michael and Amanda. Also surviving are his brother, William “Red” Nally and his wife, Connie, two sisters, Marion Rogers and Evelyn Barker and her husband, Joe and a sister-in-law, Lois Nally. Richard was predeceased by his brother, Robert Nally.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 4–7 p.m. at the James P. Byrnes Funeral Home, 2384 Gerritsen Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11229 and Monday, August 7, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul’ s Church, 200 Wyckoff Ave., Ramsey. Entombment will follow in Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Richard’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s of New Jersey, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
