Obituary of Janet L. Williams

Janet L. Williams passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the age of 81. Born in Glens Falls, NY, she was a resident of Wyckoff, NJ and Allendale, NJ before moving to Hawthorne, NJ.  Janet attended the Russell Sage College for Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. She retired from the Ramapo College of New Jersey where she was the Secretary to the President. She was a member of the Highlands Presbyterian Church in Allendale, NJ, where she was a deacon and a member of the quilting guild in Westwood, NJ. Janet is predeceased by her dear husband of 52 years, Gerald L. Williams; and is survived by her  four loving children: Austin R. Williams, his wife Nancy; Jeramie L. Gibson, her husband Dean; Robin L. Mertz, her husband Richard; Michelle M. Gibbs, her husband Don; thirteen grandchildren;  four great grandchildren; two sisters: Carol McGowen and Christine Ward. Janet is also survived by her loving cat Booty and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Highlands Presbyterian Church, 270 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale, NJ 07401.Contributions in Janet’s memory may be made to the Highlands Presbyterian Church, 270 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale, NJ 07401.
