Obituary of Claire A. Saccomanno

Claire A. Saccomanno passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. She was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity in Midland Park, NJ. Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, Claire raised her family there eventually moving to Waldwick 21 years ago. She was an elementary school teacher in the Paterson School District, schools 24 and 21, teaching 3rd grade and eventually becoming a reading resource teacher, which gave her personal satisfaction right up until she retired with 35 years served. Claire was a world traveler, having vacationed to Europe with her loving husband over the course of fourteen consecutive summers. She was the wife of Joseph C. Saccomanno for 61 years; loving mother to Joseph Jr., his fiancée Marieta; Karen, her husband Guy; Robert, his wife Sherry. Claire was predeceased by her parents Edward and Mary and her brother Donald. Claire is also survived by seven adoring grandchildren, Joseph, Stephanie, Andrew, Steven, Gregory, Dianna and Brianne. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 4- 8 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St. Midland Park, NJ 07432. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery/Mausoleum in Paterson, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Claire’s memory may be made to the St. Joseph’s School for the Blind, 761 Summit Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07307.
