Obituary of Marion D. Mulvaney
Marion D. Mulvaney passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. She was 91. Born in Port Jervis, NY, she was a resident of Waldwick since 1950. Before retiring, Marion was a dedicated registered nurse at both Barnert Hospital in Paterson, NJ, and at the Saddle Brook General Hospital in Saddle Brook, NJ. She served in the Nurse Cadet Corps during World War II, was a parishioner of St. Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, was a member of their Senior Lucans, a member of the St. Luke’s Rosary Society and the church choir. Marion started the first eye screening program for public school students for the Waldwick Public Schools, was a member of the Waldwick Drug Advisory Board and volunteered at the Waldwick Health Clinic. Marion is predeceased by her husband John F. Mulvaney and brother William Van Sickle. Survivors include her sister Lucy Conklin; son Raymond C. Mulvaney, his wife Mary; daughter Mary Mulvaney; granddaughter Christine Lin Mulvaney; step-granddaughter Lauretta Brendel Young and step-great granddaughter Megan Loibl and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, 07423 on Monday, May 1, 2017. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY. Contributions in Marion’s memory may be made to the Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 244, Waldwick, NJ 07463 or to St. Luke’s Church.
