Obituary of Dorothy Dansen

Dansen, Dorothy, age 95, of Wyckoff, safely home in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Christian Health Care Center, where she was currently residing. She was born the daughter of Anthony and Johanna Wilhemina (nee Hakstege), raised in Lodi, NJ and lived in Garfield before moving to Wyckoff. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church. She currently was a member of Abundant Life Reformed Church, Wyckoff. Her passion was working with missions around the world to aid others with a better life, providing medical assistance and brining the Gospel to them. She was a graduate of Eastern Academy in 1938 and Passaic General Hospital School of Nursing Program as a Registered Nurse in 1943. Dorothy worked as a Maternity Floor Nurse after graduating and then worked for Dr. P. J. DeBell, Passaic, NJ for 45 years. Her life was dedicated to caring for everyone. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and was the loving sister of her siblings who also predeceased her: Janette Dansen Janousek, Bertha Dansen Probst and James Dansen. Dorothy is survived by her nieces and nephews: Lawrence Probst of Clarence, NY, Norman Probst of Kansas City, MO, Raymond Dansen of Prospect Park, NJ, Ruth Dansen Haven of Prospect Park, NJ, Lynn Janousek Dwyer of Lakeland, FL and Marjorie Dansen Sietsma of Wyckoff, NJ. She is also survived by 18 great nieces and nephews, 13 great-great nieces and nephews and two great, great, great nieces and nephews. Dorothy lived her life to honor her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She shared Jesus with all. She was compassionate, self-sacrificing and generous to all those in need. She will be missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. A Funeral Service for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, 10:30 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. The interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508.
