Obituary of James A. Battifarano
BATTIFARANO
James A., 92, of Wyckoff, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Born in West New York, NJ, Jim lived in Cliffside Park, and moved to Rio Grande, NJ before moving to Wyckoff in 1964. Jim served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a signalman on the USS Guitarro submarine.
He was a custom cabinet maker, developing his skills in his father’s furniture store in West New York. He then went on to work in the commercial construction industry in various capacities from Foreman to Supervisor, retiring in 1990.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Frieda, his children: James and his wife Nancy of Mahwah, Adolf and his wife Rita of Hardyston Township, and Tina Bruno of Hackensack; 5 grandchildren: Jimmy, Stephen, Jerry, Kaitlyn and Nicholas and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Gertrude Segedin of Florida. Jim was predeceased by his brother Leonard.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in James’ name may be made to the Veterans Memorial Home, 1 Veterans Dr., Paramus, NJ 07653.
