Obituary of Robert E. Moriarty
Robert E. “Bobby” Moriarty passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the age of 85. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was a longtime resident of Mahwah, NJ. Bobby proudly served in the U.S.M.C. during the Korean War. He is a graduate of St. Peter’s University, Jersey City, NJ. Before retiring in 1984, he was a District Sales & Service Manager at General Foods, Inc, Clifton, NJ. He served on the Board at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson and as President of the Passaic County Chamber of Commerce.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Marie Moriarty; and his five children: Maureen Moriarty (Michael Roney); Robert Moriarty (Iris); Lisa Moriarty, Tim Moriarty (Gladys); Kathleen Mockler (Jeff); 14 grandchildren: Lori, Maya, Kristen, Michele, Danielle, Kyla, Ryan, Michael, Casey, Connor, Christopher, Isabella, Aimee and Lauryn; four great grandchildren: Leo, Olivia, Caspian and Marie. Bobby is also survived by his sister Mary Lou Kenny and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother John Moriarty. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. Entombment will follow in Maryrest Mausoleum in Mahwah, NJ.
