Obituary of Milton Minkema

MINKEMA, Milton age 77, died peacefully at his home in Glen Rock on Thursday, October 11, 2007. Milt was born in Paterson on October 6, 1930, he lived in Midland Park,Vermont and Cape Cod before moving to Glen Rock 4 years ago. He was a painter, and co-owner of G. Minkema and Sons in Midland Park. Milt served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church. Surviving are his devoted children, Ann E. Dooner of Glen Rock, Kenneth P. Minkema of Hamden, CT, and Steven J. Minkema of Toms River, 7 grandchildren, and his special friend Dorothy Balkema. Milt also leaves his brother Daniel Minkema of North Haledon, and sisters, Gladys Vermeulen of Ada, MI, Alice Davis of Reading, PA, and Gail Laninga of Harrisburg, PA. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:00 am from the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, 183 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Interment will follow in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa. Visiting is Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Olthuis Funeral Home (www.olthuisfuneralhome.com), 159 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mesothelioma and Asbestos Disease Society, 28 West Market Street, West Chester, PA 19382.
