Obituary of Carl Fuhr

FUHR, Carl age 83 of Franklin Lakes, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Born and raised in Prospect Park, Carl moved to Franklin Lakes in January of 1965. He was a self-employed Custom Cabinet Maker operating Fuhr Built Cabinets in Hawthorne from 1955 until he retired in 2001. Carl was a life member of the Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served as Departmental Chief in 1964. He attended the Grace Bible Church in North Haledon. Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing and many other outdoor activities. Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn E. (nee Navara), his devoted sons, Ronald C. and his wife Julia, William S. and his wife Tammy and Edward E. and his wife Jennifer. Carl also leaves his 7 grandchildren, Kevin, Kimberly, Daniel, Matthew, Jacob, Madeline and Rachel, 2 great granddaughters, Isabella and Elena, and his sisters, Gertrude Van Dyk and Madeline Puma. Carl was pre-deceased by his daughter Sharon Lynn Fuhr in 1965 and his brother Herman A. Fuhr in 2014. The Fuhr family will receive friends Friday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 3:00 PM at the Grace Bible Church, 369 High Mountain Road, North Haledon, NJ. A private graveside interment service will be held Monday at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Carl’s name may be made to the Grace Bible Church.
