Obituary of Bruce J. DeHaas

DeHaas, Bruce J. age 64 of Drums, PA died Saturday, November 5, 2016. Born in Paterson he was raised in Woodcliff Lake and lived in Midland Park before moving to Pennsylvania seven years ago. Before his retirement in January 2015, Bruce was a Distribution Manager for Lowe’s Distribution Center, Pittston, PA. He was a former member of the Woodcliff Lake Fire Dept., the Hillsdale Fire Dept., the Midland Park Fire Dept. and the Tri-Boro Ambulance Corp. He previously worked as a dispatcher and special police officer for the Wyckoff Police Dept. Surviving are his three children, Cheryl Bakker (Shawn) of Goshen, NY, Christen DeHaas of Midland Park and Brian DeHaas of Mahwah. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Preslei and Zachary Bakker and his former wife, Lina DeHaas. Bruce leaves behind close family members, his sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephew. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 am at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St. Midland Park, NJ 07432. Private Cremation will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to Valley Regional Fire & Rescue Inc., 14 West Butler Drive, Drums, PA 18222, would be appreciated.
