Obituary of Rita M. Scoccola
Rita M. Scoccola passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the age of 51. Born in Hoboken, NJ, she was a resident of Wyckoff for the past 15 years. Rita was an Elementary school teacher for the River Edge Board of Education; most recently teaching at the Cherry Hill Elementary School. She was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Wyckoff, NJ, a member of the N.J. Education Association, and the American Museum of Natural History. Rita is predeceased by her parents Alberto and Caridad and a brother Alberto Villar. Rita is survived by her loving husband of 25 years John C. Scoccola, cherished daughter Kayla M. Scoccola, dear son Liam J. Scoccola, sister Jacqueline M. Rossello, her husband Anthony, Jr., nephew Anthony Rossello, III, father and mother-in-law Osvaldo and Adela Scoccola and a sister-in-law Claudia A. Scoccola and nephew Nicholas Vetro. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff, Ave., Wyckoff. Entombment will follow at Maryrest Mausoleum in Mahwah, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Rita’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38148-0142.
