Obituary of Josephine Maselli

MASELLI Josephine, age 90, died peacefully at home on August 13, 2012. Born in San Salvatore Telesino, Italy, she had been a resident of Paterson and more recently, Port St. Lucie, FL and Wyckoff. Josephine and her husband Salvatore were proprietors of Jo & Sal's Luncheonette in Paterson during the 1950's. The luncheonette was a hub of much community activity. Through the store, Josephine organized bus rides to Bear Mountain and boat rides to Rye Beach as well as annual block parties to raise funds for the American Heart Association. Jo & Sal also sponsored women's and men's softball teams. The patrons of Jo & Sal's were like one big family. Josephine loved life! She loved to dance, cook, laugh, and most of all she loved her family. Josephine is survived by her two dear daughters: Lorraine Chessa of Waldwick and Diane DiPetrillo of Wyckoff; her loving grandchildren: Janine Chessa, John Chessa (wife Debra), Dan Chessa (wife Pernille), Marissa DiPetrillo, and Ashley Doty (husband Scott); her adored great-grandchildren: Rachel, Jessica, John Salvatore, Anthony, Sofie, Adam, Alejaya Josephine, Kristoffer, and Teadora; her sister Rosa Casbarro of Hollywood, FL and many nieces and nephews. Josephine was predeceased by her beloved husband Salvatore in 1978 and her two sons-in-law: John Chessa in 2005 and John DiPetrillo in 2011.
