Obituary of Ante Baresich

Baresich, Ante “Tony” age 81 of Wyckoff died on September 25, 2016. Born on September 27, 1934 in Diklo, Croatia, Tony came to the United States in 1959 in search of a better life. He arrived in Manhattan before moving to New Jersey after getting married in 1961. In 1980, Tony built his own home in Wyckoff, fulfilling a lifelong dream. He lived there 36 years, supporting his family and building lifelong friendships. Tony worked as vice president and plant manager of DeSaussure Equipment Co. in Maywood for 40 years until his retirement. Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Svetka, (nee Fatovic) Baresich of Wyckoff, his loving children, Nancy Zanki and her husband Nick of Wyckoff and Jerry Baresich and his wife Noelle of Montville. Also surviving are his adoring grandsons, whom he affectionately called his dečki Tyler Zanki, Jake, Max, and Trey Baresich, and his granddaughter Alexandra Zanki, whom he called his lutkica. He is also survived by his sister, Milka Miletic, many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great nephews and a great-great niece. He was predeceased by his brother, Josip Baresic and sister, Ivana Zivkovic. Tony enjoyed gardening and being in his yard. Neighbors took note of his attention to detail, evidenced by elaborate and colorful flower arrangements and a bountiful, vegetable garden. He walked the neighborhood daily with his close friend Jim for more than 40 years. He and his wife loved to dance and would often be the first ones on the dance floor. Tony also spent winters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he walked the beach and swam the ocean. Visiting will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Private Cremation will be held. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to the James A. McFaul Environmental Center, 150 Crescent Ave. Wyckoff, NJ 07481, make checks payable to the County of Bergen and in the memo line note; Environmental Center Trust Fund.
