Obituary of Thomas Morey Kennedy

Kennedy, Thomas M., 85, a longtime resident Upper Saddle River, died peacefully at home with his wife, Joan, at his side on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Weehawken, Tom lived in Bergenfield before moving to Upper Saddle River 60 years ago. Tom was a self-employed General Contractor in Ramsey. Starting as a brick layer at a young age, together with his brothers, they started Kennedy Construction Companies. Starting out as home builders, they went on to become commercial contractors. Tom was a member of the brick layers union. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Joan, his dear children: Susan Kennedy, Scott Kennedy and his wife Jan, Barbara Weiss and her husband Marc, Cheryl Powers, Christine Malone and his son-in-law John Pistocchi. Tom was predeceased by his daughter Julie Pistocchi in 2004. Tom is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Sarah Johnson and her husband Nicholas, Matthew Pistocchi, Jacqueline Pistocchi, Thomas Pistocchi, Mallory Weiss, Jack Weiss, Jay Weiss, Zachary Malone and Robert Malone. Visiting hours are Friday 4 to 7PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 am at St. Gabriel’s Church, 88 East Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ. A private cremation will be held.
