Obituary of Jeanne A. Salzberg

Jeanne A. Salzberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. She was 89. Born in Portland, Maine, she grew up in Providence, RI, and graduated from Hope High School. In 1948, she married Herbert Sumner and raised their four children in Fair Lawn, NJ. Jeanne waitressed for many years at the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn and later went on to start her own business, Sit Thee Down, caning and refinishing chairs. In 1987, she married Adrian Salzberg and moved to Mahwah where she was a longtime resident before moving to Rockleigh, NJ. Jeanne was an avid traveler and loved spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Adrian and her grandsons Ryan Hausmann and John Kramer. Jeanne is survived by her children; Karen and Robert Hausmann; Vernon and Roberta Sumner, Paul and Janice Sumner, Jon Sumner, Patricia and John Lee; Stephen and Sharon Salzberg; and David Salzberg; nine grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and her sister Marie and her brother George. Relatives and friends may visit on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 4 – 8 pm the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah.
