Tom will be sadly missed by both family and friends. I was privileged to work with Tom in NYC during his days with Shell. He was the best boss I had. To be boss, mentor and friend all at once is a rare talent. He was a man of many, many parts some of which I have only just discovered ! May he rest in peace in the knowledge that he has left the world a better place. He was a big man with a big heart.

I wish I had known Tom, but having known his daughter Diane for almost 35 years, I understand how much he meant to his wife, children, grandchildren, other family, and friends. His life is a testament that there are truly good people among us,and his loss is monumental. May he rest in eternal peace, taking on his new role as a guardian angel.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Smith once...at Diane's wedding. He was the proudest father I have ever seen. Although I really didn't know him, I DO know THIS. He was a great dad because he raised a phenomenal daughter. Our deepest sympathies to the Smith family.

Dear Family,
Even when we know, death still comes as a surprise. We never want to lose anyone we love, Tom lived a wonderful life and in his children he has left a loving legacy. We know you will miss him very much. Cry on Saturday but remember all the good times too because you are lucky to live in a family that loves. I send my love, sympathy and prayers to all.
Love Aunt Joan

I have such amazing memories of "Mr. Smith". From cigars, to the NY Times he always seemed to have in his hand when I went over to Briarwood, to his sincerity when he asked me how I was or how my family was doing. He always made me feel bigger than I was as a kid, and welcomed as an adult. May he rest in peace and may Missy and all the Smiths find peace and love in his memory.
