Obituary of Anthony A. Accavallo
ACCAVALLO, Anthony A., 80, of Wyckoff, left this life for the next on July 6, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Tony was married to his childhood sweetheart, Mary (nee Ricciardone) Accavallo for 56 years, and he was the proud father of Nicole DiStefano (Frank) and John Accavallo. Tony had three stars in his life: his granddaughter Isabella Accavallo, and his grandsons Tony Accavallo and Michael Racamato. Tony is remembered today and always by his many friends who will miss his smile, his charm, and his pesto sauce. Tony will also be dearly missed by his clan of cousins, who affectionately referred to him as “The Don”. Tony was a dapper gentleman who loved country music and rocked a fedora like no else. He was a Cadillac amongst Volkswagens. Tony was born in Ridgefield Park, NJ to Nicholas and Emily Accavallo. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Dean College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Tony was a successful businessman for many years, having held many positions in banking and eventually founded Federal Mortgage and Investment Company in Clifton. He was an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s RC Church in Wyckoff. Tony’s legacy will live on in not only the love of his family and friends (and his recipes), but in the lives of the children at the Boys and Girls Club of Paterson & Passaic. Tony was among the founders of this group in 1963, and was still proudly serving on its Board of Directors. He was recently honored by the Club for holding the distinction of having held every position on the board. A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Hackensack, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anthony’s name to: The Boys and Girls Club of Paterson, 264 21st Avenue, Paterson, NJ 07501 Arrangements by the Vander Plaat Funeral Home of Wyckoff (www.vpfh.com).
