Obituary of Rosario Ganguzza

GANGUZZA Rosario A. “Sam”, 90, of Waldwick, died Monday, June 27, 2016. Born in Italy, Sam lived in Oradell, before moving to Waldwick. He was the Former Owner of Valley Fair Corporation in Totowa, and then worked as a Butcher at the Market Basket in Franklin Lakes for 10 years before retiring in 2009. Sam loved attending church, playing cards, assembling puzzles, red wine and making people laugh. Most of all Sam loved his family and cherished each moment of his life, everyone who knew him had a warm story and a fond memory of him. He was a joyful soul and filled the hearts of everyone around him. He is survived by his beloved children: Denise Ganguzza of Waldwick, Joseph Ganguzza and his wife Diane Noah of Nanuet, NY, and Joyce Carl and her husband Thomas of Mahwah; was the loving and cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Sam is also survived by his devoted brother Joseph and his wife Francis and his sister-in-law Marion Marinaro, along with many adoring nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Marie in 2008, and his beloved siblings: Philip and wife Betty, Buck and wife Fran, Vusty and wife Thelma, and Grace and husband Jimmy. Visiting hours are Friday 4 - 8 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Entombment will follow at the Garden of Memories in the Township of Washington. Memorial contributions in Sam’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
