Obituary of Edith Douma-Sybesma
Edith Douma-Sybesma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 19, 2016. She was 100 years old. Edith lived in Glen Rock and Prospect Park before moving to the Holland Christian Home 16 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff. Edith will be missed by her dear son Ronald K. Douma, eight grandchildren: Kathy Morris, Greg Douma, Amy Brooks, Michael Douma, Scott Douma, Steven Douma, Jason Douma and Lauren Burton; eighteen great grandchildren, brother Albert Algera, daughters-in-law: Karen Douma and Marie Ten Kate and many Sybsema step children and step grandchildren. Edith is predeceased by her two husbands: Charles Douma, Jr. and William Sybesma, two sons: Roger Douma and Keith Douma, daughter-in-law Margaret Douma, two sisters: Hazel Algera and Florence Esselman and brother George Algera.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Holland Christian Home, 151 Graham Ave., North Haledon from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Edith’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 22nd at 10:00 in the Holland Christian Home. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Contributions in Edith’s memory may be made to the Holland Christian Home. Arrangements are by Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), Wyckoff.
