Obituary of David S. Cole

David S. Cole passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, May 2, 2016. He was 89. Born in Dumont, NJ, he was a long time resident of Mahwah. David proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII. Before retiring, he was a mortgage banker at Chase Manhattan Bank in NY. David was a member of the Wyckoff Reformed Church and was the owner and operator of the Old Mill Furniture Stripping in Midland Park. David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Peggy Cole, two daughters: Susan Cole, Barbara Conkling; a step-daughter Debbie Murphy; two step-sons: Christopher Lewis, Duff Lewis; Nancy Ruffino, longtime friend and “honorary daughter” 15 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wyckoff Reformed Church, 580 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Northside Food Panty, C/O the Wyckoff Reformed Church. Arrangements are by Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), Wyckoff.
