Obituary of Mario J. Calamita

Mario J. Calamita passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. He was 91. Born in Paterson, NJ, he was a resident of Midland Park and Wanaque before moving to Franklin Lakes. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mario retired from the Honeywell Corporation in Teterboro where he was an aircraft assembler. He was a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the Riverside Vets both in Paterson. Mario is predeceased by his wife Lorraine A. Calamita who passed away in 2015, a granddaughter Paula J. Calamita and a brother Thomas Calamita. Survivors include his dear son Paul J. Calamita, his wife Marilyn, two granddaughters: Stephanie Marie Lauren Elizabeth; two brothers: Joseph and Frank Calamita and a sister Mildred Guarriello. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16th at 9:45AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 787 Franklin Lakes Rd., Franklin Lakes. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery/Mausoleum in Paterson. Contributions in Mario’s memory may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714 Curepc.org
